Get Involved

Children love to have their parents and carers involved in the school – and we love the help and support they can give us!  There are a number of ways you can get involved with the school.

Helping out in the classroom

Having volunteers who come into school gives the teaching staff the opportunity to plan smaller work groups and it also introduces a different set of skills and experiences to the classroom. Perhaps you can listen to the children read, or help them in art and creative lesson, or encourage them to learn something new. Please talk to your class teacher if you think you are able to help. You will need to be DBS (Disclosure and Barring service) checked if you are coming into school regularly but if you help on a one-off or occasional basis then there is no requirement to be DBS-checked.

Getting involved with the PTA is a great way to meet other parents and carers and raise money to support the school. The events organised and run by the PTA go towards funding additional learning resources or curriculum enriching experiences for the children.  There are many ways you can help and get involved even if your time is limited. Perhaps you could plan an event, or volunteer to help out for a small amount of time, or donate something to sell – or come up with a new fundraising idea. For more information visit the Jennett’s Park PTA page.

Parent / Carer Forum

Our Parent Forum takes place termly with representation from every year group across the school. Its objective is to help and encourage positive and effective two-way communication between parents/carers and the school, and provide a channel for communication, feedback and suggestions for development.  Specifically the Forum aims to:

  • Promote the partnership between school staff, its pupils and its parents/carers.
  • Develop and engage in activities which support the education and welfare of the pupils.
  • Identify and represent the views of the parents on matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils.

Even if you don’t join the Forum itself, feedback and suggestion sheets are available from the school office at any time and are circulated via ParentMail to all parents / carers prior to the Parent Forum meetings.
